Board level repairs are never easy or straightforward but Youssef kept at it until it was fixed and I appreciate that, no other repair companies would even attempt the fix and I am very glad to have my macbook pro back and working.

I booked a laptop GPU repair with this company on November 14th, 2023. The laptop was returned a week later, supposedly repaired. However, when I turned it on, I quickly realized it was not fixed. The sensor showed an absurd 750W power draw, and the GPU wouldn't boost beyond 360MHz. When I raised these issues, I was met with arguments that this was "normal."

After multiple emails where I proved them wrong, they finally asked me to send the laptop back for repair. The laptop then sat in their shop from November 2023 until June 2024. The excuses were endless: waiting for parts, extensive repairs, and replacing various motherboard components in hopes of fixing the GPU. During this time, I had to chase them for updates as they rarely bothered to communicate with me. They repeatedly mentioned that they had other repairs to prioritize, clearly treating my laptop as a low priority.

Finally, after 7 months, they returned the laptop as unrepairable and promised me a refund. Now, it's the end of August 2024—over 2 months later—and I still haven’t received my refund. Every time I call, they promise the refund will be processed the same day, yet nothing happens. They blame PayPal, but after verifying with PayPal, it turns out they never even initiated the refund. PayPal’s policy also doesn’t allow refunds after 6 months, so the company needs to process it differently, which they’ve failed to do.

EDIT as Egytec decided to reply with lies:

Your response is riddled with lies and evasions. Before I sent the laptop for repair, I specifically asked if you believed it was repairable to avoid wasting time. The laptop was indeed second-hand with stripped screws. There was no acces to motherboard and when force was applied, it damaged few components on the board. I attempted a repair by replacing bigger resistor, and the GPU was fully working but overheating as it had higher ampage due to missing small resistors, which damaged the sensors. I was completely transparent about these issues when I contacted you. (screenshot attached)

Your claim that the GPU was not working is pure nonsense—I have screenshots proving it was functional (literally writen in notes "when it works, sensor is broken" - it required bypass of battery and unplugging charger for it to be recognised. When the laptop was returned as "repaired," the GPU was pulling 0.65V and stuck at 240MHz, a whopping 83% decrease in performance. It was so poorly repaired that the integrated GPU outperformed it. Your definition of "repair" is laughable. You even tried to argue that a GPU pulling 750W was normal—another blatant lie, as proven by the email exchange we had. ( The GPU is pulling 750W as it should . The rest of your point’s , the sensor pulling voltage and the clock core this is all related to the performance of the graphic.)

Regarding the heatsink, I made it clear that I wanted to confirm the GPU was working before replacing the heatsink—why spend money if the repair isn't successful? Your so-called warning about overheating is absurd; 50°C isn’t overheating, and you know it.

Claiming I contacted you "after a while" is another lie. I reached out within 15 minutes of delivery because the GPU was clearly not repaired. You were absolutely under obligation to accept it back, as the repair was not completed. A properly repaired GPU would boost to 2000MHz+, with no problem reaching 1V and pulling 150W under load.

Your insinuation that I shunted the laptop after receiving it back is laughable. The laptop was shunted weeks before you got it, and I even suggested during repair replacing the SMD resistors with original ones if you were too scared to power it on with the damaged heatsink.

You didn’t repair the motherboard the first time, nor did you manage it the second time. We both agreed on a refund, and I have the screenshots to prove it. Yet, you’ve still failed to issue the refund, despite repeated promises.

Your company is unprofessional and dishonest, and if you continue to lie, I will publish our entire email conversation for everyone to see the truth.

Our uninsured 2020 MacBook Pro had been damaged with a coffee spill. Apple official service and repair centre Nottingham, KRCS, examined it and pronounced it irrepairable - only solution a new motherboard which would cost more than the value of the computer. We found Egytech on the web and called them. They told us there was a good chance it could be repaired so we dropped it off at their office in Matlock and got a call next day to say it was repaired - cost £250. Went and collected it and it worked as good as new. This repair engineer was absolutely brilliant.

Absolutely fantastic service, fixed a keyboard io connector for me which had broken off the logic board on a 2018 macbook pro. Excellent quality of workmanship and the communication from Susan was second to none. Fast postage return too.

Amazing results at Egytec! Laptop with water damage. After two other computer repair places (including Apple) told me to bin my MacBook Pro and that the data wasn’t retrievable, unless by a specialist I got a quote to send it to a data recover place in the US (recommended by apple) for an astronomical amount. I then found Egytec here in Matlock! They fixed my laptop in no time - all data restored for Ā£160. Thrilled to have it back and working perfectly. Would highly recommend Egytec. Friendly, fast, efficient.

Shocking company to deal with. Extremely rude and unhelpful. They only want to deal with trade. All work must be an easy fix for them.

I highly recommend Egyptec, fantastic friendly service. They fixed my broken laptop, (apparently laptop’s don’t bounce!) It was a touch screen and it was as good as new! Very attentive, gave me an estimated time for it to be replaced and called when it was ready. Lots of free parking too! Thank you, knowing how clumsy I am I will probably be back!
