I entrusted Repair My Gadget to replace a Macbook battery which was end of life. All seemed okay until around 6 months when the battery started to play up, sometimes it wouldn’t charge or the laptop would suddenly shutdown with around 30% of charge remaining. Eventually and a mere 18 months later the battery completely died and then started to expand distorting the laptop’s body. Having removed the battery by an Apple authorised service centre, it became clear that it was a cheap Chinese import with a very limited life span, worst still a fire risk, given that it was clearly starting to overheat. The overall response to this from Repair My Gadget has been poor. Needless to say, don’t use this company for laptop battery replacements!

What’s frustrating is the fact that you are not taking any accountability for the poor service provided and fail to acknowledge the low quality battery fitted.

Granted batteries have a finite life, but I’d expect them to last longer than 18 months, if it was genuine. The original one from new lasted over 4 years with the same amount of use!!

I also need to emphasise the safety risk that the batteries you supply pose. Had I not noticed the laptop body distorting, it could have resulted in significant injury to myself or family from fire or explosion.

To anyone thinking about using Repair My Gadget to replace their laptop battery, I would advise using an Apply authorised service centre instead.
