For several years I used to take my cars to Tracts for MOTs, servicing, maintenance and repairs, but I won't be doing that again.

I was ripped off by them by getting charged £90 for a tyre repair in November 2024. It turned out that there was no damage to the tyre and all it needed was to get sealed around the rim for which they charged me £90 for an hour's labour, no materials. At most places this will cost you between £25 and £45.

I called them to inform them about my dissatisfaction. They said that they would look into it and call me back, but they never did. I chased twice again after that but everytime they had some excuse and said they would call me back, but never got back to me.

I will not be using Tracts again...

They were paid to to do a medium service on my van. After collection, i drove it away and immediately noticed a bass(y) exhaust noise. When i got home i saw the exhaust silencer was missing. They told me to bring it back in and they would put a new exhaust on it. When i first went they didn't have the part. Then, when they eventually did, they fitted it with huge holes (It was driving with a loud fizzing noise).

Rather than offer me an apology, i was told by the mechanic (old enough to know better) that he only had an hour window, which he said wasn't long enough for the part he was attaching it to to cool down. They were the ones who told me it would take an hour!! And i did not once hurry them! He then blamed the other senior member and said i shouldn't have been told it was an hour.

The service report (list of what was completed) was not provided at the time and i had to keep chasing it (i knew for certain that the handbrake had not been checked as well as the exhaust that had somehow gone missing initially). When it did come the mileage was 1000 miles less than was correct, making it look like i had driven it for 1000 miles as soon as i picked it up.

9 months later, after the exhaust fell off onto the road, i was advised that they had also fitted the wrong exhaust for the vehicle. They probably fitted any old one they had lying around. Now i have a fizzing and rattling exhaust that i am having to make do with.

When i wrote to them to start legal proceedings over a service that had never been done and the shameful work on the exhaust, the people who i needed to speak to suddenly started going off on annual leave or becoming unavailable. No surprise to see ALL recent google reviews are 1 stars. It was so disappointing as they seemed such pleasant gentleman before any of this and the amount of times locals recommended tracts for a large van! They really should retire if they don't feel they earn enough from what they do without ripping off other people.

Having broken down, I summoned the AA for help. The technician diagnosed the problem but was unable to do a roadside repair. Tracts agreed to accept the car and it was duly towed there. Bearing in mind this was an unexpected job for them, they promptly inspected my car and agreed with the AA's diagnosis. The necessary parts were ordered and the car was fixed and back on the road in an impressively short time. Thank you!

An awful experience from start to finish that ended up with me getting rid of the vehicle as I had no faith in it working properly again. An expensive and late clutch replacement that didn't actually make any difference leading to days of hire vans waiting for it to be put right. When we got the call to say it was ready another large bill was presented but after a long conversation taken back only for the van to still have the same fault anyway!
